Bullying
Bullying
is the act of causing another person damage or injury whether
physically or psychologically through the use of malicious
words or actions. It is a form of abuse perpetrated by people
who have damaging intentions against others.
There
are many types of bullying. The attacks may be through actions
or words. Verbal abuse takes place when a bully harasses
another person by speaking vulgar and offensive words to the
latter. Physical abuse employs acts which inflict pain or
pressure to the other person. The intention of a bully is to
cause fear, discomfort or anxiety to their target. The
bully will resort to negative actions in order to produce the
intended negative effect.
Bullying
commonly takes place in sites where people mingle and
interrelate such as offices, schools, homes and other public
places. When people are in constant exposure with each other,
the intention to bully becomes prevalent. There has to be a
certain level of connection between the bully and the victim
before the bullying can actually take place. Thus, the intense
connectivity brought about by the broad and far-reaching scope
of the internet has significantly increased the incidence of
bullying. With the proliferation of internet usage, it has
become easier for internet bullies to intensify the effects of
their actions against their victims.
